Federal Way’s Walmart location at 1900 S. 314th St. will close to the public Oct. 31.
The state’s Employment Security Department reports that about 253 employees work at the location on South 314th Street. They are eligible to transfer to another store, according to an announcement from the company. The store’s pharmacy also closes Oct. 31.
This is one of two Walmarts in Federal Way. The Walmart Supercenter at 34520 16th Ave. S. will remain open.
“We remain very committed to Washington. It’s important to point out that we have two Walmart stores within five miles of this location — the next closest store is our Federal Way Supercenter which has a full grocery department and is only two and a half miles down the road. The Federal Way Supercenter completed an extensive remodel in 2024,” according to the company.
Walmart operates 63 stores in Washington with more than 23,000 employees.
“We are grateful to the customers who have given us the privilege of serving them at our Federal Way general store. We look forward to continuing to serve them at our Federal Way Supercenter or other nearby locations, on walmart.com and through delivery to their home or business,” according to company spokesperson Anne Hatfield.
