Technology: An integral part of education | Federal Way letters

Technology is not an “add on” to education — it is an integral part of it.
Unfortunately, the state doesn’t fund education that way. If we want our students and teachers to teach and learn in the 21st century, it needs to be funded by a levy.
I have been working as educational technology program manager at TAF Academy in Federal Way for more than two years now. I have seen the process of putting the levy request together by serving on its advisory committee. You have forward thinking and diligent leadership and staff working for you. They are focusing on success for all the students of Federal Way.
Our young people are living in a world that is significantly different than the people who can afford homes and are going to pay for the levy. Please think about how the world has changed since the advent of the personal computer and how we are going to prepare our young people to be successful in a world that we know is still changing rapidly and will continue to for the foreseeable future.
This levy has been designed to keep Federal Way as a place where children can prepare to succeed in college and careers. Please look out for the students — they are our future.
