In the latest mailing from Jim Ferrell, he asks for our vote and assures us that he will treat future projects as follows:
“I will ask two fundamental questions for every project: 1) Is it absolutely necessary? 2) Is it the role of government?”
As a member of the Federal Way City Council, Mr. Ferrell:
• In 2010, voted to authorize $58,000 for the World Championship of Sand Sculpture project.
• In 2008, moved to direct staff to work to obtain state funding for a new arts and conference center.
• In 2009, moved to authorize the expenditure of up to $75,000 to develop additional architectural, site and business information relating to a potential combined conference and cultural center.
How are these projects an absolute necessity and a role of government? Why should we believe that his future behavior will differ from his past voting record?
