July 13

• There were three vehicle thefts reported and no vehicles were recovered on this day.

• Dog left behind: At 1:24 a.m., officers responded to a report of a dog that was wondering around an apartment complex at the 2700 block of Pacific Hwy S, possibly showing aggressive behavior. The dog was found barking and scratching at the door to one apartment. Upon further investigation, police found that the person who lived in the unit was a vulnerable adult who had been arrested on July 10 and concluded that the dog had been left behind. The dog was limping and appeared to be hungry and thirsty. Police left a business card with a case number on the front door before bringing the dog back to the police department. Emails were sent out to animal services and PD Dog Walkers.

July 14

• There were no vehicle thefts reported and no vehicles were recovered on this day.

• Machete, or not: At 12:41 p.m., a report came in of a shirtless man brandishing a machete in the parking lot at the 100 block of SW Campus Dr., with the man had reportedly been stabbing street signs and had thrown a knife at people. When the man was detained, he was found to be holding a cylindrical metal car part and surveillance footage only found that he had been walking around holding the car part. He was then released.

• A bloody trespass: At 4:41 p.m., police responded to a call for a welfare check at the 34000 block of 16th Ave. S. where they contacted a man with blood on his face from open wounds. After the man declined medical attention, police discovered that he had a confirmed warrant for criminal trespass in the 1st degree out of Seattle. He was then arrested and taken to King County Jail.

• Beckoning masturbator: At 6:26 p.m., police responded to a report of a man masturbating in the woods at the 1000 block of S 324th St. and attempting to coerce the reporting party to enter the woods with him. The man was described as a transient white man, 23 years old, 5-foot-4, wearing a brown hat, white shirt and blue shorts. The reporting party told police that the man had a tent in the woods and was hiding behind a tree when he was masturbating, and telling them over and over again to “come here.” Police found a tent but could not locate the suspect.

July 15

• There were no vehicle thefts reported and no vehicles were recovered on this day.

• Arson: At 1:46 p.m., police were dispatched to the 28000 block of Pacific Hwy S for a 30-foot wide brush fire next to an apartment complex. Safecity footage showed two juveniles in black tops starting the fire before running away. It was found that the fire was ignited by a brown BIC lighter with a duck on it.

July 16

• There were no vehicle thefts reported and no vehicles were recovered on this day.

• Gone Gengar: At 7:32 p.m., police were dispatched to a storage unit where $26,000 worth of Pokémon cards were reported to have been stolen. The reporting party told police that he had placed the card collection in the unit on May 29 at 8:50 p.m. and that he had not been to the unit since then. He possessed all three keys to the unit and that only his sister and nephew knew of the card collection’s location. Police found that there was slight damage to the back of the unit’s lock.

July 17

• There were no vehicle thefts reported and no vehicles were recovered on this day.

• Burglary: At 3:47 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 1800 block of S 286th Ln. where loud noises were coming from a unit in the apartment complex that was supposed to be empty at that time. Police found that the loud noises were coming from unknown persons who had unlawfully entered the unit and had caused $40,000 in damages to the apartment.

July 18

• There was one vehicle theft reported and no vehicles were recovered on this day.

• Crash at Redondo Heights: At 1:48 a.m., police responded to a report of a gray Nissan Cube driving recklessly with a missing front tire. The car had crashed into barriers and fence into the Redondo Heights neighborhood. Officers found the driver nearby, whose slurred speech, unsteady gait, vomiting and strong alcohol odor showed that he had been driving under the influence. He was arrested for DUI.

• Car meets tree: At 2:36 a.m., officers responded to a one-vehicle collision with a tree at the 3400 block of 1st Way S where they established probable cause for DUI and disorderly conduct, leading to two arrests.
