The Federal Way Mirror Female Athlete of the Week for April 3 from Federal Way High School is Samantha Jolley (senior), fastpitch.

What is your favorite subject/class in school?

Psychology.

Name your Mount Rushmore G.O.A.T. Athletes (Top 4):

Jocelyn Alo, Sis Bates, Katie Ledecky, J.P. Crawford.

What does it mean to be a good teammate? Why is it important to your success? What is one thing you do to help others around you?

It means supporting and uplifting each other. This is important because it builds the environment that will help each other learn and succeed in our sport.

If you could have dinner with anyone (living or from the past), who would it be? Why?

I would choose Steve Lacy because his music has been my favorite recently.

You’re on a long road trip, you stop at a gas station. You get one drink and one snack. What are you choosing?

Trail Mix and Dr. Pepper.

Describe your favorite post-game meal:

Chipotle.

What is your Walk-up song?

“Boyfriend” by Justin Bieber.

From the sidelines:

Samantha (Sammi) Jolley is unlike any other player that I’ve had the privilege to coach. Yes we’ve had the “prototypical” leaders/captains where reputation, stature, athleticism, precedes them … not to say that Sammi doesn’t exude these traits, she just comes about leading this team differently, sort of a unicorn of leaders.

Sammi leads by action and example. Soft-spoken as she is, her voice carries in team meetings, not because she is loud, but because she rarely has to say anything to lead, but when she does speak, you had best be listening! Her play and leadership has carried us so far this season.
