Jan. 13

There were two vehicle thefts reported, and two vehicles were recovered on this day.

Shooting: At 3:16 p.m. in the 33000 block of 19th Lane South, officers responded to a shooting. One victim with a single gunshot wound was located and transported to Harborview in stable condition.

Robbery victim attacked: At 1:43 p.m. in the 30000 block of Pacific Highway South, two unidentified suspects tried to rob the victim in a parking lot. One suspect punched the victim in the head, swelling his right eye shut. The suspects did not steal anything from the victim.

Fake money: At 3:46 p.m. in the 2300 block of Southwest 336th Street, officers responded to a call about someone attempting to pay with a fake $100 bill. Officers responded and seized the counterfeit bill.

Bag of marijuana: At 6:45 p.m. in the 800 block of South 320th Street, employees at the location discovered a bag of marijuana in the bathroom. No owner info. The marijuana was booked for destruction.

Memory care facility fight: At 7:26 p.m. in the 31000 block of Ninth Place Southwest, officers responded to a report at a memory care facility where three patients were involved in a physical altercation resulting in minor injuries. No criminal culpability was established for anyone based on their diagnoses.

Electric bike stolen: At 7:39 p.m. in the 1700 block of Southwest 346th Place, the victim was showing his electric bicycle to a potential buyer. The suspect was looking at the bicycle when he rode away on it without paying. The suspect’s name or address of the suspect is not known to the victim. The case is inactive pending any suspect information.

Jan. 14

There was one vehicle theft reported, and zero vehicles were recovered on this day.

Mongolians being scammed: At 9:44 a.m. in the 1000 block of South 320th Street, the reporting party stated that she is the president of a nationwide Mongolian community group, and said her members have been reporting to her that a female subject has been posting in their online group a service to exchange Mongolian dollars to U.S. dollars. Members were upset that a percentage of the money was not returned after the exchange. The reporting party stated that victims live across the U.S., but no victims were reported to live in Federal Way. The reporting party was advised to block the female from the group and tell members to report additional information to the police.

Shoplifting: At 11:54 a.m. in the 1900 block of South 320th Street, two males were reported as entering the establishment wearing masks and filling bags with underwear and shirts. The suspects fled on foot. Probable cause was established for third-degree theft, pending additional information about the suspect.

Burglary: At 5:32 p.m. in the 33000 block of 21st Avenue Southwest, three storage units were burglarized.

Jan. 15

There were three vehicle thefts reported, and one vehicle was recovered on this day.

Car hit retaining wall: At 2:54 a.m. in the 2600 block of South 298th Street, officers investigated a single motor vehicle that had crashed into a retaining wall. Initially, the vehicle was found unoccupied. The occupants were later identified, and the driver was cited for misdemeanor hit-and-run.

Jan. 16

There was one vehicle theft reported, and one vehicle was recovered on this day.

Juveniles entering school: At 3:21 p.m. in the 35000 block of Fifth Avenue Southwest, police responded to a burglary. Two unknown juvenile subjects entered the school through an unsecured roof hatch.

Shoe scam on Instagram: At 3:02 p.m. in the 30000 block of 26th Place South, the reporting party told officers that they tried to purchase shoes from someone on Instagram, but after sending the money, they did not receive the shoes. The reporting party was told to report the Instagram user and attempt to cancel the transaction through their financial institution.

Weapons violation: At 4:46 p.m. in the 28000 block of Pacific Highway South, there was a report of a weapons violation.

Driving under the influence: At 7:02 p.m. in the 2900 block of Southwest Dash Point Road, officers responded to a motor vehicle accident with unknown injuries. At the scene, officers developed probable cause to arrest the driver for DUI. They were later interviewed and released at the hospital due to possible injuries.

Jan. 17

There was one vehicle theft reported, and zero vehicles were recovered on this day.

Tinder prostitution: At 1:19 a.m. in the 4900 block of Southwest 319th Lane, officers received a call regarding a male claiming to have been drugged. Upon arrival, the male admitted to soliciting two women from Tinder for prostitution. The parties agreed on an amount, and the male invited them over. They drank alcohol and followed through with their agreed-upon sexual contacts. Afterwards, the man woke up and noted the money that was put aside for the women was gone. Additionally, the male stated he was missing his keys, but also seemed confused and did not recall his text messages until he was reminded of them. The male did not want to press charges. He was evaluated by fire crews on scene with stable vitals.

Car theft: At 5:37 a.m. on 20th Avenue South, a person’s car was stolen. It was learned that he had left his car on to warm up, and a short time later, his car was stolen.

Troublesome juveniles plaguing officers: At 3:22 p.m. on Pacific Highway South, there was a report that two officers have been plagued by reports of three juveniles throwing rocks, pulling fire alarms and acting disrespectfully to anyone they encountered. Today, a passerby called 911 saying that one of the three juveniles was seen with a firearm near the Crossings shopping complex. The three were located, contacted and detained without issue. A replica Glock 17 was found on one of the juveniles. No probable cause for a crime existed, and the juveniles were admonished for their actions. Safe City cameras showed the juvenile pointing the toy gun at his friends just prior to police contact. Their parents were contacted.

Jan. 18

There were zero vehicle thefts reported, and zero vehicles were recovered on this day.

Abandoned dog: At 7:28 a.m. on South 320th Street, an officer was dispatched to the report of an abandoned dog. An officer located an aggressive female pitbull tied to the bus stop and a transient sleeping next to it. The transient told the officer that the dog did not belong to him, and it had been there for many hours with no food or water. The officer took the dog into his custody and placed it in the police station kennels with food and water. Animal services were notified.

Homicide: At 3:32 p.m. on 11th Place South, officers were dispatched to a shooting. Officers arrived on scene and were informed that an adult male shot another adult male. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The suspect fled the scene and was not found. The reporting party was involved in a fight with another involved party. The other involved party was arrested for fourth-degree assault.

Jan. 19

There were zero vehicle thefts reported, and one vehicle was recovered on this day.

Stolen vehicle spiked: At 12:20 p.m. at South 320th and 23rd Avenue South, officers located an occupied stolen vehicle and spiked the vehicle twice. The vehicle then collided with another vehicle. Subsequently, the vehicle was abandoned, and the suspect fled the scene. Efforts to apprehend the suspect were exhausted.
