Sept. 17
There was one vehicle theft reported, and zero vehicles were recovered on this day.
Officers laid down spikes: At 2:23 a.m. in the 27000 block of Pacific Highway South, there was a report that officers assisted the Des Moines Police Department on a pursuit by laying spikes. Once the suspect vehicle collided with a city-owned sign, officers assisted Des Moines in locating the suspects.
Theft of a vehicle and gun: At 9:47 p.m. in the 32000 block of 20th Lane Southwest, there was a report that officers responded to an in-station report of a theft of a vehicle and a gun.
Fraud: At 12:50 a.m. in the 2900 block of Southwest 342nd Place, there was a report that a woman got an email stating that she had fraudulent activity on her Wells Fargo bank account. The woman called the person who emailed her, and the person on the phone told her to withdraw $28,000 from the bank so they could redeposit it safely. The person on the phone said the money would be stolen if she did not deposit it by 2 p.m. The woman said that the person on the phone said someone would come to her home and collect the money, but on the way to the bank to collect the $28,000, she got suspicious and called 911.
Sept. 18
There were zero vehicle thefts reported, and zero vehicles were recovered on this day.
Shoplifter smashes window: At 6:03 p.m. in the 1900 block of South Commons, there was a report that an unknown suspect shattered a glass door at the north entrance of the Commons Mall. The suspect was running away after he shoplifted merchandise from Hat Stop when he caused the damage. The total amount of damage was estimated to be less than $750. A photo of the suspect was posted on Safe City in an attempt to identify.
Woman being watched by neighbor: At 8:50 p.m. in the 1900 block of Southwest 320th Street, there was a report that police responded to a suspicious circumstances call. The reporting party stated that she was afraid of her neighbor directly across from her and felt that she was being watched. The reporting party stated that anytime she exits her apartment, he also exits, then sits on the stairs and stares at her. The reporting party requested that the police talk with the man and advise him to never speak to her again. Officers spoke with the man and asked that he no longer speak to the woman, and he agreed.
Sept. 19
There were zero vehicle theft reported, and one vehicle was recovered on this day.
Sept. 20
There was one vehicle thefts reported, and zero vehicles were recovered on this day.
Firearm found in yard: At 10:53 a.m. in the 3400 block of Southwest 340th Place, there was a report from a man who said he found a handgun. The man said that while doing yard work in his front yard, he found a handgun wrapped in a towel. A records check of the firearm returned clear. The firearm was placed in a locker until it could be rendered safe. The firearm was too rusted to be rendered safe.
Stolen safe: At 12:55 p.m. in the 1600 block of Southwest Dash Point Road, there was a report of a burglary. The suspect broke in through the front door and stole a safe from inside the location.
Sept. 21
There were two vehicle thefts reported, and zero vehicles were recovered on this day.
Change machine: At 4:10 a.m. in the 27000 block of Pacific Highway South, there was a report from someone that a man was forcing entry into a change machine on the property. The man was not located, and it is not known if any money was obtained from the change machine.
Bullet hole: At 7:48 a.m. on 13th Avenue South, officers were dispatched to a report of a bullet hole found in the victim’s garage.
Sept. 22
There were zero vehicle thefts reported, and zero vehicles were recovered on this day.
High school assault: At 2:12 p.m. at a Federal Way high school, there was a report that a juvenile was assaulted by another juvenile, resulting in a black eye.
Assault with a firearm: At 4:31 p.m. in the 27000 block of Pacific Highway South, there was a report that officers responded to a threat with a weapon. Probable cause for second-degree assault was established on a female subject who was arrested and booked into jail.
Sept. 23
There were zero vehicle thefts reported, and one vehicle was recovered on this day.
Home burglary: At 12:45 a.m. on South 372nd Street, there was a report that a victim said that after hearing a loud noise on the ramp outside of her residence, she saw two white males in dark clothing stealing two bikes from inside her garage and loading them into the back of an older white Chevrolet pickup truck.
Weapon at school: At 11:30 a.m. at a Federal Way school, there was a report of possession of a weapon on school grounds.
Pedestrian hit-and-run: At 6:30 p.m. on South 320th Street, there was a report of a vehicle vs. pedestrian. Probable cause for felony hit-and-run was established.
Accidentally threw away firearm: At 7:57 p.m. in the 2400 block of South Star Lake Road, there was a report that a man said that he was moving out of his apartment, and he believes he threw away a box that contained a firearm. The firearm was unable to be located after several attempts to find it. The firearm was reported as lost.
