Original report:
At 3:17 a.m. Feb. 24, Federal Way police responded to the 33000 block of 18th Place South in response to a call about a shooting. Police found one unarmed female and a 27-year-old male victim suffering from a single gunshot wound to the chest. The victim died at the scene from his wound.
According to police, a 26-year-old armed male showed up at the female’s residence and broke in through a sliding glass door. The suspect, who formerly dated the female, then allegedly shot the victim. Police believe the victim was the female’s current boyfriend. It is unclear if there was a struggle, said police Cmdr. Steve Arbuthnot.
The suspect fled the scene. A K-9 located him hiding nearby and the suspect was taken into custody. The suspect does not have any known domestic violence arrests or convictions, Arbuthnot said. He was treated for injuries suffered from the glass door and bite wounds from the K-9. Police are not looking for other suspects.
