Fire in vacant Federal Way building deemed arson

The building went up in flames around 3 a.m. on Aug. 27.

A vacant building that went up in flames early Thursday morning has been deemed arson by fire investigators.

At about 3 a.m. on the corner of Pacific Highway S. and S. 279th St. in Federal Way, South King Fire and Rescue crews were met with heavy flames and smoke upon arrival, and spent several hours putting out the fire on Aug. 27.

Due to the building’s extensive damage, firefighters were unable to conduct a search for occupany.

King County Sheriff’s Office has ruled the cause of the fire as arson. There is a $10,000 reward for those with details of the incident.
