Flags throughout the City of Federal Way plans are flying at half-staff this week in memory of two fallen officers.

At various city sites, flags are at half-staff today (Aug. 4) in honor of Bothell Police Officer Jonathan Shoop, who died in the line of duty on Monday, July 13. Shoop, 32, was killed amid crossfire of a shootout during a traffic stop on Highway 522.

Flags will also be lowered Wednesday, Aug. 5, in honor of Washington State Patrol Trooper Justin R. Schaffer, who died in the line of duty on Tuesday, March 24. Schaffer, 28, died after he was hit by a driver fleeing law enforcement along I-5 in Chehalis.
