Thomas Jefferson High School senior Elyas Poore, tennis, was selected as the Federal Way Mirror Male Athlete of the Week for Oct. 11.

Q: What is your favorite subject/class in school?

A: History.

Q: What other activities/hobbies do you enjoy?

A: I enjoy hanging out with my friends, playing golf and playing basketball.

Q: Person who has helped you succeed the most?

A: My coaches, and my mom and dad.

Q: The best advice I’ve ever been given by a coach is:

A: When it comes to tennis, to “just have fun!”

Q: Describe your pre­-game ritual and favorite post-game meal.

A: No real pre-game ritual, but if I have a big win, I get a good burger and fries to celebrate.

Q: Song you currently can’t get enough of?

A: I don’t really have any right now.

From the sideline: TJHS senior captain Elyas Poore is playing as the No. 1 singles for Thomas Jefferson in 3-1, and he is currently 5-0 when he plays doubles. He is leading Thomas Jefferson to a 10-0 early season record, and was the deciding winning match versus Decatur to get the Raiders undefeated record intact.
