Federal Way city officials have authorized a request for bids on the construction of the Performing Arts and Event Center’s orchestra shell.

The deadline for bids is 3 p.m., Jan. 11. The city expects the contractor to complete all work on the orchestra shell by July 14.

Construction began on the $33 million performing arts center in October 2015 and is expected to be complete by summer 2017.

After reviewing eight bids on the construction of the 700-seat building, the Federal Way City Council awarded the project to the lowest bidder Garco Construction, Inc. from Spokane. Garco’s bid estimate was $22.09 million to construct the building.
