Now that Brian Wilson has resigned, it is time to reassess why we needed a chief of staff at all. Federal Way switched from a city manager and city council to a mayor and city council form of government. What we got instead was a mayor and a chief of staff. Why? If we need a chief of staff, a city manager by another name, let’s go back to the type of government we had in the beginning. Another layer of government is not necessary.
