James Kidwell

James Glenn Kidwell died July 27 in Federal Way. He was 76.

He was born Jan. 12, 1927, in Seattle and lived his entire life in the Seattle and Federal Way area. After graduating from O’Dea High School, he entered the Army and served two years in the Korean War.

He was instrumental in the formation of the Federal Way Boys and Girls Club. He served as the organization’s president. He also was a former candidate for the Washington Legislature.

He was an electrician and worked in civil service until retiring at the age of 62. During his retirement, he was devoted to caring for his wife, Shirley, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s shortly after his retirement.

Survivors include his wife; children Michael Kidwell and Melodie Grigsby; and a sister, Mary Lee.

At his request, services were private.
