Federal Way Public Schools is seeking seven parents and a teacher to serve on the district's Grading Advisory Committee.

Last January, Federal Way Public Schools developed a district Grading Advisory Committee to share research and provide input to the district on effective grading practices for all students in the district.

In the last eight months, several positions have been vacated and the district is seeking replacement applicants. Seven parents and a teacher are being sought to bring the group back to its original size.

The committee is structured to include representation from a variety of schools and grade levels. It includes students, parents, teachers, community members and district and building administrators. Non-English speakers are invited to participate. Interpretation will be provided.

Responsibilities of the district Grading Advisory Committee members include:

• Serving for two consecutive years through June, 2015

• Adhere to the norms and expectations developed by the committee

• Attend all meetings, which will be held on the third Thursday of each month from 6:30–8:30 p.m. at the Educational Service Center as follows: Sept. 18; Oct. 16; Nov. 20; Dec. 18; Jan. 15, 2015; Feb. 19, 2015; March 19, 2015; April 23, 2015 (changed from April 16 due to student-led conferences); May 21, 2015; and June 18, 2015.

Forms are available at the front desk of the district Educational Services Center and at all schools.
