Federal Way police are investigating the death of a 32-year-old Federal Way man who was found deceased from an apparent gunshot wound Monday night.
“At approx 10:30 p.m., patrol officers responded to the 32800 block of Hoyt Road SW for sounds of gunshots being heard in the area,” Federal Way Police Department spokeswoman Cathy Schrock said Tuesday morning. “Upon arrival, officers found an adult male subject inside of a vehicle, deceased from an apparent gunshot.”
Schrock added the shooting did not appear random and said preliminary investigations indicate the victim “was involved in some type of road rage incident that began in northeast Tacoma while the victim drove into Federal Way. The exact circumstances surrounding the shooting are still under investigation.”
Schrock added there is no suspect description or vehicle description at this time.
As of just prior to 6 a.m. Tuesday, the vicinity of the death was still being processed as a crime scene. A stretch of Southwest Hoyt Road between Southwest 320th and Southwest 340th streets was closed, affecting the morning commute. Residents inside the closure will have access through the scene, and impacted city and school buses were advised of the closure.
The Mirror will provide updates as they become available.
