My trust and my vote | Federal Way letters

I too have found it very ironic that those very officials that disdained the initiative Jim Ferrell pursued for us — the citizenry to get a “real” mayor, i.e, elected mayor, are now the very ones that scramble to oppose Jim on the primary ballot as latecomer candidates.
The fact that they initially rejected this form of direct accountability to the electorate has, in fact, disqualified each from my consideration of ever voting for any position again. They deserve every bit of the ambiguity they at first defended (anti-accountability).
Jim Ferrell led the drive for us to have an elected mayor, his foresight and effort brought us this privilege. He is a true leader, unafraid to be held accountable as a stand-alone leader, not ambiguous as a committee member on the council.
The record shows: Jim’s not afraid to say no to the demands of special interest groups, e.g., the performance art crowd, whereas the record also shows that his opponents do not take that decisive stand, not even in tough economic times — not on the city council nor in the state Legislature (as per the record of candidate Skip Priest).
My trust and vote goes to Jim Ferrell. The other three deserve the ambiguity they at first defended.
Jim’s opponents are, in my opinion, all opportunists, definitely not leaders.
