Federal Way swimmers needed for fundraiser

The Federal Way parks department is holding a Swim-a-thon to raise scholarship money for swim lessons. The scholarships will enable children from low-income families to take swim lessons at the Federal Way Community Center.

The Swim-a-thon will run May 1 to May 7 at the community center, 876 S. 333rd St., with a main event kick-off Sunday, May 1. The goal is to raise a minimum of $2,500, which would pay for 50 scholarship lessons. Organizers are aiming to recruit 50 participants and hope to raise a minimum of $50 per person.
