Logical solution for golf club | Federal Way letters

As a longtime homeowner in Twin Lakes, I am concerned about our community and the resolution of the funding problems of the Twin Lakes Golf and Country Club.

The homeowners learned about this problem only a couple of months ago. We are being threatened that if we don’t pass a $300 per household amenities agreement on Feb. 6, we could see the golf course disappear and condos and houses will be built on the land. Our homeowners association has taken a stand for this proposal without any alternatives being presented to stem the shortfall in revenue of the golf course.

The golf club and the homeowners association have not considered the most obvious solution: Open the club and golf course to the Twin Lakes homeowners at large without changing any homeowners association covenants or bylaws. This is the most logical way to increase revenue of the club and golf course.

If this does not increase revenue, the golf course and other facilities could be opened to the community at large. But, the rates must be competitive with other golf courses and dining rooms in the area. It would be a wonderful way to build our community as a whole and ensure the continuation of the golf course.
