Tope Akinlosotu’s family establishes memorial fund

The family of Tope Akinlosotu has established a memorial fund donation to help cover the cost of the Federal Way teenager’s funeral.

The family asks that donations be made at any U.S. Bank branch in care of the Tope Akinlosotu Memorial Fund. Checks can also be mailed to Matthew Akinlosotu, 29810 4th Ave. SW, Federal Way, WA 98023.

Tope, 15, died after rescuers recovered him from Steel Lake on Aug. 5. The popular teenager was about to enter his sophomore year at Federal Way High School.

A memorial service was scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 10, at Christian Faith Center in Federal Way.
