Federal Way woman hit by car, dies from impact

A woman died this morning after she was struck by a car outside of a crosswalk.

The Federal Way resident, approximately 60 years old, was walking west to east in the 32200 block of 21st Ave. SW when a male driver, approximately 24 years old, hit the woman at 6:30 a.m. Police say the woman was almost to the curb.

“This appears to be an unfortunate tragedy due to poor driving conditions/ light and a pedestrian crossing outside of a crosswalk,” said Federal Way Police Department spokeswoman Cathy Schrock. “The driver is fully cooperative with the investigation…”

Schrock said the driver was interviewed by traffic officers and 21st Avenue Southwest, between South 320th Street and South 325th Street will remain closed until the traffic investigation team concludes their work.
