Thomas Clinton Leonard
March 14, 1936 – July 7, 2026
Thomas Clinton Leonard was born on March 14, 1936, in Coffeyville, Kansas to parents LeRoy Leonard and Bernice Irene Killion Leonard. Tom’s beloved siblings were James, Janet, and Joyce. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother James.
In 1954, Tom graduated from Field Kindley Memorial High School and then joined the United States Air Force. He married Pal, his beloved wife of 69 years, in 1956. Pal lovingly describes Tommy as simply “a gift from God.” Their daughter Diana was born in 1963 while they were stationed in Okinawa, Japan.
Tom loved serving his God and his country. Tom’s proudest accomplishments include: SMSgt, USAF, Retired, Vietnam Veteran, Life member Veteran of Foreign Wars, Post 2886, Federal Way, WA and Life member and Chaplain Disabled American Veterans Chapter A-One #33, Kent, WA and Honor Guard member Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent, WA. He was also a proud member of the Cooties (part of the VFW) and Gideons International. Tom was a member of Steel Lake Presbyterian Church for nearly 50 years, where he served as both an ordained deacon and an ordained elder.
Tom is survived by his daughter Diana, son-in-law David Coffman, and his grandsons Glenn and Colin Coffman.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 25, at 1pm at Calvary Lutheran Church (Steel Lake Presbyterian Church) at 2415 S 320th Street in Federal Way.
A graveside service will be held at the Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent on Monday, July 27, at 9:30am.
