Two families were displaced after residential fires on June 3 near the 400 block of SW 368th St. in Federal Way.

South King Fire crews quickly responded to the fast moving, two-alarm fire and contained the blaze, according to a press release.

The families were evacuated safely before emergency responders arrived and no firefighter injuries were reported either. One puppy was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The two families included 12 people total, and “Red Cross disaster assistance was requested immediately” to support them.

The Red Cross representatives provided emergency housing, resources and support to the displaced families according to South King Fire.

South King Fire firefighters were assisted by the Federal Way Police Department, and the King County Sheriff Fire Investigation Unit was also present to investigate the cause of the fire.

The fire’s cause is still under investigation, but no probable cause for a crime was found.
