May 19

• There were zero vehicle thefts reported, and one vehicle was recovered on this day.

• Driver slumped over the wheel: At 2:59 a.m. in the 2000 block of South 288th Street, officers responded to a report of a male slumped over in a vehicle blocking the roadway. Probable cause was established for DUI, and the male was arrested and booked into jail.

• New package scam: At 9:20 a.m. in the 34500 block of Ninth Avenue South, the head of security at Saint Francis Hospital said that they had received a package containing a black bag with a six-inch needle inside of it. The reporting party said that he looked up the address on the package and discovered it was part of a new scam called “brushing.” The officer looked up the scam and said it appears it’s a scam where random items are shipped to people, and the goal is for the recipient to scan a QR code, which will install malware on their phone. No crimes were discovered during the officer’s investigation.

• Threats with a firearm: At 12:48 p.m. in the 28600 block of 25th Place South, officers responded to a physical domestic assault with second-degree threats involving a firearm. Assault with a firearm was cited. One person was arrested and booked into jail.

• Assault with a knife: At 6:24 p.m. in the 1900 block of South 320th Street, officers responded to a report of an assault with a knife. The victim received severe injuries that required immediate medical attention.

May 20

• There were zero vehicle thefts reported, and two vehicles were recovered on this day.

• Illegal fruit stand: At 12:27 p.m. in the 27300 block of Pacific Highway South, officers observed a fruit stand on the sidewalk in front of Autozone. The seller did not have proper licensing or permits to sell food in Federal Way or King County. The seller refused to identify himself further than just a name. The seller was given a warning to pack his belongings and move on. The case is for information only due to the trending illegal food stands in Federal Way.

• Abandoned bearded dragons: At 5:10 p.m. in the 1900 block of Southwest Campus Drive, there was a report that bearded dragons were left behind after an eviction.

• Bicycle theft emphasis: At 4:19 p.m. in the 1200 block of South 320th Street, there was a report that officers conducted a bicycle theft emphasis in the downtown core. A known male suspect was arrested. At least two other bicycle theft arrests were reported from the emphasis that officers conducted.

• Employee stole money and went to casino: At 7:02 p.m. in the 33800 block of 36th Avenue Southwest, the victim reported that her employee used her business debit cards to make approximately $16,000 in unauthorized withdrawals at the casino. The victim discovered the theft via bank alerts. The case is recommended for criminal investigation for felony theft.

May 21

• There were zero vehicle thefts reported, and zero vehicles were recovered on this day.

• Raccoon dispatched: At 9:41 a.m. in the 31700 block of Seventh Avenue South, there was a report that a sick raccoon was dispatched and disposed of.

• Stolen firearm: At 1:51 p.m. in the 30000 block of 10th Avenue South, a Ruger firearm was reported stolen from a safe of a home. It is suspected that someone who lives in the home stole the firearm. The matter was determined to be civil.

• Mutual combat gone wrong: At 3:47 p.m. in the 1000 block of South 324th Place, there was a report from a victim who said that he engaged in mutual combat with someone, but the fight turned unconsensual after he attempted to retreat and surrender. The victim had partial video footage of him getting strangled and struck multiple times. The victim believed that the fight happened at Celebration Park.

May 22

• There was one vehicle theft reported, and zero vehicles were recovered on this day.

• Pursuit: At 3:28 a.m. in the 32000 block of Pacific Highway South, an officer initiated a pursuit of a stolen pickup truck. The pursuit was terminated immediately.

May 23

• There was one vehicle theft reported, and one vehicle was recovered on this day.

• Burglary: At 12:02 a.m. on Southwest 335th Street, there was a report of a residential burglary.

• Burglary: At 3:04 p.m. in the 3000 block of Southwest 356th Street, there was a report of a commercial burglary.

May 24

• There were zero vehicle thefts reported, and zero vehicles were recovered on this day.

• Burglary: At 3:30 a.m. on South 348th Street, there was a report that a screen was taken from a window and a backpack was stolen from a business. Officers dusted the window for prints, but were unable to locate any.

• Fires started: At 11:26 a.m. on South 320th Street, there was a report that a witness saw two small brush fires he believed were started by transients. The fires were small and were put out by South King Fire immediately.

• Threats with a weapon: At 11:12 p.m. on South 305th Place, there was a report of a threat with a weapon, and probable cause of second-degree assault was established. Assault with a firearm was cited.

May 25

• There were zero vehicle thefts reported, and zero vehicles were recovered on this day.

• Assault with a knife: At 1:26 a.m. on 36th Avenue Southwest, officers received a domestic violence call. Assault with a knife was cited.

• Drinking beer in the mall: At 1:25 p.m. on South Commons, an officer contacted a man who was drinking a beer in the mall. Security wanted the man trespassed. The man was found to have a warrant, and he was arrested and booked into jail.

• Person inhaling fumes: At 8:13 p.m. in the 2200 block of South Commons, an adult male was contacted for a welfare check when he was reported to be inhaling toxic fumes. The male declined aid, left the property, but returned and stole items. The man then began inhaling substances he had stolen.
