May 12
• There were zero vehicle thefts reported, and one vehicle was recovered on this day.
• DUI driver: At 1:58 a.m. in the 32000 block of Pacific Highway South, officers contacted a vehicle blocking the sidewalk and roadway. After the investigation, the driver was arrested for DUI.
• Missing gun: At 2:34 p.m. in the 100 block of South 329th Place, police responded to a report of a stolen firearm. The firearm was a Glock 26 that was last secured in a lock box in the trunk of her vehicle. The victim said that she noticed the trunk of her vehicle was not shut, and the lock box was gone. There is no suspect information.
• Cologne theft: At 4:21 p.m. in the 1800 block of South 320th Street, there was a theft report in which employees reported a shoplifting where three cologne bottles, estimated at $600, were stolen. CCTV recorded the incident. The suspect was described as an approximately 5’10” Black male wearing a black jacket, cream colored pants and a black Adidas backpack. He was recognized by employees as having a noticeable slouch.

• Hit-and-run: At 6:55 a.m. in the 33600 block of 21st Avenue Southwest, a traffic incident, a hit-and-run, was reported.
• Medicaid fraud control search: At 11:01 a.m. in the 31000 block of 18th Avenue South, there was a report that members of the Special Investigations Unit and Special Operations unit assisted agents from the Attorney General of Washington’s Medicaid Fraud Control Division with serving a search warrant on a business in Federal Way. Federal Way police cleared the business and provided scene security afterward.
• Occupied stolen vehicle: At 6:23 p.m. in the 32800 block of Seventh Avenue Southwest, officers responded to an occupied stolen vehicle. The driver was arrested, and the passenger was released after being interviewed.
May 14
• There was one vehicle theft reported, and two vehicles were recovered on this day.
• Stabbing: At 1:21 a.m. in the 34000 block of Pacific Highway South, officers responded to a stabbing at the Days Inn Motel. Officers made contact with the victim, who suffered a deep laceration on the face. Officers detained a suspect from outside the motel room. The victim and witness positively identified the suspect, and officers placed the suspect under arrest for first-degree assault.
• Water bottle assault: At 6:12 p.m. in the 1800 block of South 320th Street, the victim said that a transient male assaulted him with a water bottle after he was asked to leave the location. The victim provided a recorded statement, but ultimately did not wish to press charges.
• Dog in the road: At 10:42 p.m. in the 2100 block of Southwest 320th Street, officers responded to a loose dog. An officer was en route, and dispatch advised that the caller stated that the dog had just been struck by a vehicle. An officer arrived, and the witnesses said that the dog was meandering in and out of traffic before it got hit by a vehicle traveling at about 40 mph. The officer took the dog to the pet emergency room to be treated for potential injuries.
May 15
• There were zero vehicle thefts reported, and zero vehicles were recovered on this day.
• Man mistakenly arrested: At 5:28 a.m. on 42nd Avenue South, a brother reported seeing the suspect of a recent drive-by shooting at the location via live surveillance. A man was detained and placed into handcuffs that were gauged for a secure fit and were double locked. However, the man was not the suspect of the drive-by and was released.
• Raccoon dispatched: At 12:56 p.m on 34th Avenue Southwest, officers were requested to assist animal services with a sick or injured raccoon. Animal services requested that the animal be dispatched, and officers fired one round from their patrol rifle, killing the animal. Animal services took possession of the remains.
• Parents concerned about Roblox communications: At 2:04 p.m. on South 340th Street, a caller believed that his 11-year-old daughter was being contacted via the Roblox app by a male posing as a juvenile. The messages came from a Montana area code. The daughter said that the correspondence was never sexual or suspicious in nature and that they talked about games they played and normal age-appropriate topics. The daughter’s social media was being closely monitored. No crime was found to have taken place, and the report is for documentation only.
• Manslaughter arrest: At 7:23 p.m. in the 2200 block of South Commons, Target requested assistance with a female who was detained in their loss prevention office. During the contact, the female provided her information, and she returned with a felony department of corrections first-degree manslaughter warrant. The woman was placed into custody and booked into jail.
• Power box tampered with: At 10:25 p.m. on South 326th Street, someone reported that they noticed that their power was out and their energy box had a few damaged wires, and the cover was missing. Puget Sound Energy stated that they were unaware of the damage. No CCTV footage or suspect information.
May 16

• Fatal traffic accident: At 1:25 a.m. in the 35500 block of Enchanted Parkway South, officers responded to reports of a single vehicle collision. A fatal traffic accident was reported.
• Man attempting to set up camp: At 3:54 a.m. on 23rd Avenue South, transit security reported witnessing a man hop the fence into an enclosed area belonging to Sound Transit that is used to store construction equipment. The man was observed attempting to set up camp between two company vehicles inside the enclosed area. Officers arrived on scene and had to hop the fence too because there was no access to the area where the man was. Officers had to cut a lock on a fence to safely exit the area with the man. The man was detained, given a trespass notice and released.
• Hit-and-run: At 8:21 p.m. at Southwest 340th Street and 35th Avenue Southwest, a hit-and-run accident was reported.
May 17
• There were zero vehicle thefts reported, and zero vehicles were recovered on this day.
• Burglary at the mall: At 11:09 a.m. on South Commons, officers responded to a burglary in progress at the Commons Mall. A search of the property resulted in the arrest of a suspect for first-degree burglary.
• Burglary: At 12:25 p.m. on Military Road South, a residential burglary was reported.
• Assault with a weapon: At 6:27 p.m. on South 320th Street, officers responded to an assault with a weapon. Investigation revealed probable cause to arrest two suspects for second-degree assault.
May 18

• Over $10,000 in copper wire stolen: At 11:34 a.m. on Southwest Campus Drive, officers were dispatched for a burglary report. Upon arriving at the location, officers contacted the reporting party, a maintenance worker, who said that the electrical wiring, along with the copper piping, was stolen. The approximate loss is between $10,000 and $15,000.
• Man in his 30s picks up juvenile he met on Discord: At 5:58 p.m. in the 100 block of South 340th Street, the listed juvenile victim was picked up in Federal Way by an unknown male suspect in his 30s and transported to the Southcenter Mall. The listed victim met the male on Discord. He later dropped her off back at home. The investigation is ongoing.
• Extortion: At 7:26 p.m. in the 32900 block of 19th Place South, the victim reported that an unknown subject, whom he had been texting on Snapchat, demanded $500 through CashApp or else a nude photo and the victim’s personal information would be released. The man deleted his Snapchat and did not pay the suspect. The case is inactive pending new information.
