April 7

There were zero vehicle thefts reported, and zero vehicles were recovered on this day.

Firearm stolen: At 12:56 p.m. in the 1900 block of Southwest Campus Drive, the victim stated that her pink Glock 43 was stolen from her vehicle. There were no video cameras in the area. No suspect information. The case is inactive, leads exhausted.

Broken display case: At 1:10 p.m. in the 2900 block of Pacific Highway South, an employee reported that a male had broken a display case. At the time of the initial call, the male left the location and was not located. Later that night, the male returned to the location and was arrested.

Urinating at bus stop: At 6:22 p.m. at South 308th Street and Pacific Highway South, officers observed a subject urinating at a bus stop.

$60,000 lost to scam: At 6:52 p.m. in the 1000 block of South 320th Street, the reporting party stated that about six months prior, his wife began messaging a man on Instagram who said he was in the Syrian Army and he needed money for his child. The wife then willingly began sending money to the man. The man said that he would send her $120,000, but first, he needed money, and the wife then kept sending him money until it added up to $60,000, and she had no more money to send. The reporting party said that at that point, his wife told him, and she realized that she was being scammed. The report states that the responding officer did not believe that there was probable cause for any crime, as there were no threats or anything compelling the wife to send the money.

April 8

There were zero vehicle thefts reported, and one vehicle was recovered on this day.

Man pepper-sprayed: At 6:54 p.m. in the 1200 block of South 320th Street, officers were dispatched to a man who exhibited signs consistent with pepper spray exposure. The victim stated that he asked the suspect for a “light,” and the suspect declined. The victim said that he then used explicit language and a slur at the suspect, and the suspect then pepper-sprayed the victim. The victim declined medical treatment, and officers conducted an area search for the suspect, but did not locate him.

Man taking pictures of kids: At 6:56 p.m. in the 31000 block of 28th Avenue South, the caller reported that a white man, who had brown hair with a beard and was wearing a black jacket and black pants, was taking photos of children at the Steel Lake soccer field. The caller reports that the man was not a parent or associated with any of the children. The caller took a video of the man. A search for the man was conducted, but it was unsuccessful.

April 9

There were zero vehicle thefts reported, and zero vehicles were recovered on this day.

Girls jump another girl: At 4:07 p.m. in the 33300 block of Eighth Avenue South, an anonymous tip was sent via email regarding two girls involved in jumping a girl and taking a cellphone.

Burglary: At 6:57 p.m. in the 1300 block of Southwest Campus Drive, officers responded to a potential burglary in progress. Investigation revealed probable cause for a second-degree residential burglary. The case will be forwarded to criminal investigations for review.

Alleged shooting: At 8:43 p.m. in the 27000 block of Pacific Highway South, officers received an assault report by phone. The reporting party stated they were shot at in Federal Way, but did not report the shooting until hours later. No suspect information could be located, nor any footage of the incident.

April 10

There were two vehicle thefts reported, and zero vehicles were recovered on this day.

Selling food unpermitted: At 11:32 a.m. on South 348th Street, a passerby called to report a female was setting up a food stand on the sidewalk. The female was contacted and was unable to provide proper licenses or permits to sell food in Federal Way or King County. The female verbally identified herself and stated that she did not have an identification. Her record came back clear. The female stated that she did not work for anybody. The female was given a warning and told to move along. No probable cause for a crime. Case for information only.

Assault involving juveniles: At 12:09 p.m. on South 312th Street, an officer responded to an in-station assault report involving juveniles.

Instacart theft: At 2:10 p.m. in the 31000 block of 16th Place Southwest, the victim stated that she used Instacart to buy groceries, and then an unknown subject bought items with her credit card. The victim knew the subject’s name from the Instacart account that was using her credit card, but officers were unable to locate the suspect in law enforcement databases. The victim stated that she had already been refunded by Instacart.

Letter brought to the police department: At 2:49 p.m. in the 33300 block of Eighth Avenue South, officers responded to an in-station report. A male brought a letter to the Federal Way Police Department and said something to the effect of “You know what to do with this.” The letter bounced around to different topics, stating that people are out to kill him, and he knows many of his belongings were hacked and stolen. The male declined to answer when asked if he wanted to report a crime and walked away. Informational report only due to suspicious circumstances.

Dog bites driver: At 10:15 p.m. on 12th Avenue South, officers responded to reports of a dog bite involving an Amazon delivery driver.

April 11

There was one vehicle theft reported, and one vehicle was recovered on this day.

Hit-and-run: At 12:20 a.m. at Military Road South and South 304th Street, a hit-and-run was reported.

Unoccupied car: At 12:57 a.m. on South 331st Street, officers located a vehicle unoccupied that Washington State Patrol pursued into the city. The vehicle returned as stolen and with a hold for prints out of Renton. K-9 track was unsuccessful.

Gunshot wound: At 4:07 p.m. on Ninth Avenue South, officers responded to St. Francis Hospital for a report of a patient who was dropped off at the emergency room suffering from an obvious gunshot wound. Suicide or attempted suicide was cited.

April 12

There were zero vehicle thefts reported, and zero vehicles were recovered on this day.

Burglary: At 5:50 p.m. in the 34000 block of First Avenue South, the reporting party called to report a possible burglary to her residence via a second-floor bedroom window.

April 13

There were zero vehicle thefts reported, and zero vehicles were recovered on this day.

Abduction at gunpoint: At 3:06 a.m. on 53rd Avenue Southwest and Southwest 316th Place, the reporting party said that she and her friend were forced into a vehicle by an unidentified male using a gun. All parties then drove to an unknown location where both the reporting party and her friend were assaulted. This is an active felony investigation.

Man attempting to lure juveniles: At 2:55 p.m. on 16th Avenue South, there was a report that a man was attempting to lure children into an apartment. Security told police that the juvenile females told him that the man was attempting to lure them. The juvenile females said they ignored the man and walked away. The man is described as a Pacific Islander who is approximately 5’5” tall, of medium build, and last seen wearing a COVID mask. This is the third report of the same subject attempting to interact with children at the apartment complex. Officers attempted to contact him at his unit, but were unsuccessful.
