Feb. 10

There were two vehicle thefts reported, and two vehicles were recovered on this day.

Arrest assist: At 3:39 a.m. in the 6200 block of South 249th Court, Kent police requested Valley SWAT’s assistance with an arrest warrant. The suspect was located and placed into custody without incident.

Brothers attacking someone: At 8:50 a.m. at a Federal Way high school, two juvenile brothers assaulted a fellow student in a hallway during school hours. School video footage captured the incident. The suspects were gone upon arrival. The case was forwarded to the juvenile prosecutor.

All-terrain vehicle stolen: At 9:12 a.m. in the 300 block of South 301st Street, officers learned that an unknown suspect forcibly entered the reporting party’s backyard by breaking a fence and stole a red Honda ATV with Nevada plates. No suspect information or surveillance footage of the theft was available. The case is inactive pending further leads.

Child accessed THC-infused butter: At 2:45 p.m. on Southwest 311th Street, officers responded to a report of a juvenile who got access to butter that had been infused with THC. After speaking with the reporting party, officers were informed that the child was treated at St. Francis Hospital. The child was acting lethargic, sleeping through most of the day. The parents of the child were by his bedside. The social worker was given a case number to document the event.

Physical incident at city council meeting: At 8:30 p.m. in the 33000 block of Eighth Avenue South, while officers were assisting with security at a Federal Way City Council meeting, a female who attended the meeting advised officers that she had been assaulted by another female at the meeting. Through investigation, it was revealed that the initial reporting party had walked close to the other female and placed a piece of paper on the drink that the other female was holding. The other female then pushed the reporting party with an open palm. The reporting party made no complaint of any pain. No probable cause was established, no arrest was made, and the two females remained at the meeting.

Counterfeit bill at McDonald’s: At 9:32 p.m. in the 34000 block of Pacific Highway South, a McDonald’s employee called to report that a subject was attempting to pay for food with a counterfeit $100 bill. When officers arrived on scene, the subject had already left on foot and was not located. He was described as a white male, 40 to 50 years old, with dark hair and a beard, walking with a cane. Police recovered the counterfeit $100 bill and submitted it for destruction.

Feb. 11

There was one vehicle theft reported, and zero vehicles were recovered on this day.

Drug Enforcement Administration arrest: At 6:52 a.m. in the 1600 block of South 260th Street, the DEA requested Valley SWAT assistance with an arrest and search warrant. The suspect was located and taken into custody without incident.

Hit-and-run: At 1:09 p.m. in the 29000 block of Second Avenue Southwest, officers arrived for a report of a hit-and-run of an unoccupied vehicle. The suspect vehicle was gone upon arrival. No injuries.

Hate crime: At 6:05 p.m. in the 4400 block of Southwest 323rd Street, a phone report was received regarding an incident of malicious mischief that was classified as a hate crime. The reporting party stated that the damage was intentional and motivated by bias against a protected class.

Drunk person at the movies: At 7:40 p.m. in the 1900 block of South Commons, officers were dispatched regarding a drunk and disorderly person at the theater. The person was detained for lunging at the cinema staff. The person was taken to jail.

Feb. 12

There was one vehicle theft reported, and zero vehicles were recovered on this day.

Drunk person committed: At 4:24 a.m. in the 1700 block of South 324th Place, there was a report that officers responded to a man who was extremely drunk and cold. He could not answer the officers’ questions. In his state, officers did not believe he could care for himself. He was drunk and planned to wheel himself home 30 minutes away. He was involuntarily committed.

Stolen gun: At 11:23 a.m. in the 31000 block of 22nd Avenue South, a person reported that a handgun was stolen from his vehicle over the weekend.

Counterfeit bill: At 11:30 a.m. in the 31000 block of Pacific Highway South, there was a report that a woman in her mid to late 40s attempted to make a purchase using a counterfeit $100 bill. The store manager took the bill and immediately called the police. By the time the police arrived, the woman had already left the store. She was described as a Hispanic woman in her 40s with light brown hair, wearing a light-colored sweater. The manager mentioned that he believed the woman was unaware that the $100 bill was counterfeit. The bill was taken so it could be booked into evidence.

Phone and flashlight: At 12:50 a.m. in the 3400 block of South 336th Street, the reporting party stated that his wife found a cellphone and flashlight in their backyard, and they were not sure who they belonged to. Items were booked into evidence.

Feb. 13

There were two vehicle thefts reported, and two vehicles were recovered on this day.

Robbery: At 4:43 p.m. on Southwest Campus Drive, the victim was on foot, en route to her brother’s house in Federal Way. As she passed the bus stop in front of Winco, a male unknown to her grabbed her in a bear hug and stole her purse. Despite a quick perimeter check and K-9 track, the suspect was not located.

Feb. 14

There was one vehicle theft reported, and zero vehicles were recovered on this day.

Chronic 911 caller: At 9:58 p.m. on 13th Avenue South, officers responded to a chronic 911 caller who resides in an adult family home. Officers contacted the reporting party and her caregiver at the facility and confirmed that no emergency services were required at that time. Officers attempted to contact the patient’s case manager, but were unable to reach her by phone.

Feb. 15

There were zero vehicle thefts reported, and zero vehicles were recovered on this day.

Vehicular homicide: At 8:06 a.m. in the 35000 block of Enchanted Parkway South, officers were dispatched to a five-vehicle collision. One driver was deceased at the time of the call, and two others were transported to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition. The suspect driver was taken into custody. Vehicles were taken into custody for evidence.

Burglary: At 12:50 p.m. in the 2200 block of South Star Lake Road, there was a report of a residential burglary.

Feb. 16

There were zero vehicle thefts reported, and zero vehicles were recovered on this day.

Stepsons with a firearm: At 3:39 p.m. on Eighth Avenue South, an officer was flagged down for a report of an assault. The reporting party stated that this stepsons had assaulted him and brandished a firearm at his residence, which was later determined to be in Milton’s jurisdiction.

Dating app meetup turned stickup: At 7:51 p.m. on Southwest 354th Street, the victim arrived to meet with an unknown male from a dating app. When the victim arrived, a male suspect emerged from his vehicle with a rifle, demanded property and shot at him. No injuries. The suspect fled in a white Nissan with no plates.
