Oct. 21
There were two vehicle thefts reported and zero vehicles were recovered on this day.
DUI: At 12:21 a.m. Oct. 21 on South 299th Place, officers found a vehicle with the driver slumped over at the wheel. The driver was arrested for DUI.
Grabbin’ tires: At 4:50 a.m. Oct. 21 in the 32000 block of Pacific Highway South, a reporting party informed police about theft of tires from a nearby business. Officers checked the area for the suspect vehicle and located it. Officers initiated a traffic stop and identified all occupants. The driver said he was given permission 12 years ago to grab tires from the back due to the fact they are getting thrown away soon. The manager of the store did not answer calls from police. No arrest was made. The driver was sent a citation through the mail for a traffic violation.
Attempted bike theft: At 10:09 a.m. Oct. 21, a victim called police to report that someone had just attempted to steal his bicycle out in front of Poverty Bay Cafe. A small physical altercation ensued and the victim was able to get his bike back from the suspect. The suspect fled on foot and the victim did not pursue. Case is inactive.
Broken arm: At 12:59 p.m. Oct. 21 on Pacific Highway South, officers responded to take a recorded statement of an assault. The victim stated that they were assaulted by six or seven subjects in the south entrance of the View at the Lake Apartments along South 308th Street. The victim had a broken left arm. Suspects are unknown to the victim with no strong leads.
Oct. 22
There was one vehicle theft reported and zero vehicles were recovered on this day.
Lost wallet: At 12:43 p.m. Oct. 22 in the 27000 block of Pacific Highway South, a reporting party stated that they lost their wallet at the listed location and that it may have been dropped in a parking lot. The wallet contained $200 in McDonald’s gift cards, about five credit cards and a driver’s license. Although the credit cards were cancelled, one was used at a nearby Safeway for a $1.09 charge. No suspects at this time.
Spitting: At 1:13 p.m. in the 35000 block of 16th Avenue South, a school resource officer at Todd Beamer High School was made aware of an assault that occurred between two students. One of the students spit on the other and the victim wanted to pursue charges. Statements were obtained from the victim and a witness and forwarded to the juvenile prosecutor’s office.
Child abuse: At 11 a.m. Oct. 22 on South 328th Street, an officer took a report of suspected child abuse. The reporting party is a case manager at the address and told police that multiple reports have been made to Child Protective Services in regards to a tenant there. Tenants and staff have heard the mother emotionally abuse her kids and suspect physical abuse, but have no proof. On this day, the mother refused to take her oldest to school due to her “being in trouble.” The case manager said her behavior continues to escalate and wanted police to investigate the welfare of the children. Another officer was tasked to check on the children once they arrive home.
Fight in the car: At 6:16 p.m. Oct. 22 on SW Dash Point Road, a caller reported that a person became irate while riding in the back of their mother’s car over not being able to charge her phone. The person then assaulted her sister by pulling her hair. During the incident, the person grabbed a pair of scissors and began attempting to stab her arm and stomach while saying, “I’m going to kill myself.” The person then jumped from the vehicle and attempted to flee. The person suffers from mental health issues and the mother said all medication was stopped by doctors until they could be rebalanced.
Oct. 23
There was one vehicle theft reported and zero vehicles were recovered on this day.
Wandering toddler: At 12:34 p.m. Oct. 23 on SW Campus Drive, a 2-year-old child was found wandering in the parking lot of the Pavilion Apartments. The child was only wearing a T-shirt, diapers and a pair of adult boots. Officers searched for over an hour before locating the mother. The mother claimed she fell asleep. Management and other residents claimed that the same child has been seen wandering around without adult supervision in the past. CPS was contacted and advised.
Oct. 24
There was one vehicle theft reported and one vehicle was recovered on this day.
Robbery: At 12:40 a.m. Oct. 24 in the 32000 block of Pacific Highway South, officers were dispatched to a strong-arm robbery. One arrest was made at the scene and no further injuries were reported.
Mental health issues: At 9:50 a.m. Oct. 24 in the 29000 block of Pacific Highway South, officers responded to a suicidal subject. The suspect has a history of mental health issues, verbal domestic disputes and involuntary treatments. The suspect was making threats to kill himself and his father inside their apartment unit and threatened to pour boiling water on the father. The suspect was taken into custody with no force or issues and transported to SCORE Jail.
Vehicle on fire: At 12:41 p.m. Oct. 24 in the 2000 block of S. 333rd Street, officers located a vehicle that was fully engulfed in flames and parked in a driveway. South King Fire arrived to extinguish the flames and no damage was done to the house. An investigation revealed that the vehicle is not driven often, and the owner was sitting in it with the engine on. He heard a loud pop and found the passenger seat area where the battery is located on fire.
Dirt bike and a pistol: At 10:25 p.m. Oct. 24 in the 28000 block of Military Road South, officers responded to a report of a threat with a gun. The reporting party stated that a male on a dirt bike rode past a business while pointing a firearm at people on the sidewalk. The suspect was described as a white male wearing dark clothing with a dark pistol while riding an orange and white dirt bike. Officers in the area located a matching dirt bike and attempted to stop it, but the driver fled. A pursuit was not initiative. Officers were unable to locate a victim or any witnesses. This is the second weapons offense occurring in the area involving a matching dirt bike. Officers located the dirt bike on SafeCity footage and the driver was seen doing wheelies and riding recklessly near other motorists on the road. Case is inactive and leads are exhausted.
Oct. 25
There were two vehicle thefts reported and zero vehicles were recovered on this day.
Shooting: At 2:05 p.m. Oct. 25 in the 27000 block of Pacific Highway South, officers responded to a shooting with injuries. The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the right arm. A suspect has not yet been identified.
Shoplifting: At 10:50 p.m. Oct. 25 in the 1200 block of South 320th Street, dispatch advised police of shoplifting at Safeway. Suspects had fled the scene in a white SUV. Officers were unable to locate the vehicle. The store manager said the suspects took about $700 worth of cleaning supplies and items for a baby.
Oct. 26
There was one vehicle theft reported and zero vehicles were recovered on this day.
Stepfather: At 8:08 p.m. Oct. 26 in the 36000 block of Pacific Highway South, officers responded to a 911 call made by the daughter of the victim saying that her stepfather was beating her mother. Officers contacted the victim and suspect, and probable cause was established for fourth-degree assault/domestic violence. The suspect arrested and booked into jail.
Oct. 27
There were zero vehicle thefts reported and zero vehicles were recovered on this day.
Abandoned dog: At 10:12 p.m. Oct. 27 in the 27000 block of Pacific Highway South, officers were dispatched to the park and ride for a report of an abandoned dog. Upon arrival, officers found a large male dog tied to a pole. The dog was wearing a muzzle and a leash, and appeared scared and aggressive. Officers used an extendable pole to move the dog and transported him back to the FWPD. Officers have attempted to notify the owner, but the dog does not appear to have been chipped. Animal services has been notified.
Road rage: At 3:07 p.m. Oct. 27 in the 31000 block of Pacific Highway South, officers took a phone report regarding an aggressive driver who hurled obscenities at the reporting party and followed the reporting party’s vehicle. Officers did not find probable cause for a crime. The driver was described as a short Asian female in her 40s with sunglasses and a cigarette. The other driver called in and reported her name. The female has an extreme risk protection order and has been involved in numerous other road rage incidents.
