At least 400 Puget Sound Energy customers in Federal Way have been affected by power outages after a thunderstorm on Sunday (Aug. 18) caused some trees to fall, according to Puget Sound Energy’s website.

Puget Sound Energy notes the start of the power outage in an area near Dash Point State Park along SR 509 began at 4:19 p.m. The site lists trees/vegetation as the cause of the outage.

Trees could be seen laying across SR 509 starting around 4:45 p.m., and crews did not begin work until approximately 10 p.m., according to at least one resident.

The initial estimate for restoring power was 12 p.m. as of Monday morning, but updated to 3 p.m. later in the day.
