Police commander to face incumbent for State Rep. in general election

Incumbent Jamila Taylor is set to face newcomer Casey Jones for Legislative District 30 State Rep. Pos. 1 in the general election, according to early election results on Aug. 2.

Tuesday’s primary election results show incumbent Democrat Jamila Taylor received over 55% of the vote or about 8,015 votes, King County Election results show.

Newcomer Republican candidate Casey Jones, who is a commander with the Federal Way Police Department, secured 30% of the vote, or about 4,432 votes.

Opponents Paul McDaniel, a Republican, and Janis Clark, of the GOP Party, trailed with 10% of votes and 3% of votes, respectively.

In Federal Way, voting turnout so far lingers at just over 17% with 14,837 ballots counted of the over 82,000 registered voters.

Primary election results are certified Aug. 16. The general election is Tuesday, Nov. 8.
