Salmon Bake raises over $23,000 to benefit local community.

The Kiwanis Club of Federal Way hosted its in-person Salmon Bake once again on July 22, after a two-year hiatus.

Attendees enjoyed critically acclaimed Cafe Pacific maple rub salmon, with potato salad, watermelon and Jimmy Mac’s Roadhouse famous rolls with honey butter. Boy Scouts from Troop 307 helped people find seats and assisted with delivering meals to diners.

In total, 658 meals were sold with at least 200 meals sold on the day of the Salmon Bake, according to the Kiwanis Club.

The event collected $23,771, which will be used by the club for community projects, family grants and supporting local youth.

Max Renshaw Band played classic rock and other crowd-favorite tunes. Dozens of nonprofits and organizations had informational booths for community members to explore, learn and chat. The sunny day gave way to a warm evening as kids and families flocked to Steel Lake Beach and nearby playground until sunset.
