Virginia Mason’s third annual Drug Take Back event in Federal Way received nearly 200 pounds of drug collections on Oct. 24.

The event comprised 16 volunteers who contributed 50 hours of service, said Julie Vath, coordinator of the Drug Take Back event.

In addition, the event welcomed 103 participants bringing their medications in for collection and garnered eight boxes, weighing 197 pounds in total.

These collections were considered “excellent” by the DEA Coordinator, Vath said.

If you have unused or expired drugs you need to get rid of, Federal Way residents may visit Virginia Mason’s year-round drug collection bins on the VMFW campus, located at 33501 1st Way S.
