Crews working on the Federal Way Link light rail extension will need to close lanes on southbound Interstate 5 in Kent from milepost 148.8 to milepost 147.6 beginning Monday, May 18 through Thursday, May 21 for paving an access road to the construction area and setting concrete barriers.

On Monday, May 18, crews will close one right lane of southbound I-5 from 8 p.m. to 10 a.m. for paving near the former Midway Landfill, according to a Sound Transit news release.

On Tuesday, May 19 through Thursday, May 21, crews will close two right lanes from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. to place concrete barriers. All project construction work is done under stringent COVID-19 health and safety guidelines, according to Sound Transit.

The Federal Way Link Extension is scheduled to open for service in 2024 with the addition of 7.8 miles of track from Angle Lake Station in SeaTac through Kent to Federal Way. For more information and to sign up for project updates, visit soundtransit.org/fwlink.
