Decatur High School senior Ruth Magana, bowling, was selected as the Federal Way Mirror Female Athlete of the Week for March 13.

Q: What is your favorite subject/class in school?

A: Choir.

Q: What other activities/hobbies do you enjoy?

A: Golf and tennis.

Q: Person who has helped you succeed the most?

A: My grandpa.

Q: The best advice I’ve ever been given by a coach is:

A: To breathe and take it one frame at a time.

Q: Describe your pre-game ritual.

A: Pregame ritual — talk with my teammates.

Q: Song you currently can’t stop listening to?

A: I don’t have one at the moment.

From the sideline: Decatur High School senior Ruth Magana was recently named the Most Valuable Bowler by North Puget Sound League coaches. She was a captain and leader of the Lady Gator bowling team who won their second consecutive NPSL and West Central District championships, and earned a trip to the 2020 WIAA 4A State tournament. Ruth completed her third consecutive year as an individual participant in the 4A state championship, earning 17th place. Ruth earned a 3.8 cumulative grade point average in a rigorous college prep schedule including advanced placement courses at Highline College. She is on track to earn her high school diploma and associate of arts degree in June.
