King County medical examiners have identified the woman killed in a fatal crash on Monday morning that shut down Pacific Highway South for hours.

Anita Acosta, age 50, died when a semi-truck that was traveling northbound lost control and swerved into the oncoming southbound lanes, striking the woman’s small SUV, Federal Way police said. Three vehicles were involved in the crash, including a sedan.

Police and South King Fire and Rescue were dispatched to the collision at 9:26 a.m. in the 37300 block of Pacific Highway S. Two other people and a puppy were extricated from the vehicles and transported to local hospitals.

Washington State Patrol is conducting a full inspection of the semi to try and determine what may have caused the collision, stated Federal Way police Cmdr. Kurt Schwan.
