Published 4:15 pm Friday, July 29, 2016

The Washington State Department of Transportation is reminding drivers that another “South King Slowdown” is coming to Interstate 5 from July 29 to Aug. 1, but it will take a break over Seafair weekend (Aug. 5-7).

What to expect:

• From south of the I-405/SR 518 interchange to SR 516, I-5 going southbound will be reduced to two lanes of traffic from 10 p.m. Friday (7/29) to 5 a.m. Monday (8/1).

• Ramp closures include: Southbound I-405 to southbound I-5, South 188th Street on-ramp, and South 200th Street’s on ramps and off-ramps.

Tips for drivers:

• Use state routes 99, 167 and 509 if able.

• Utilize transit transportation, as well as carpool or vanpool options.

• Travel before 9 a.m., or after 9 p.m.

• Postpone travel plans.

• Periodically check the Washington State Department of Transportation website (www.wsdot.wa.gov) or download its mobile app, then plan travel accordingly.

After taking the weekend of Aug. 5 off, the final two South King Slowdowns will take place Aug. 12-15 (southbound I-5 Duwamish River Bridge to Klickitat Drive) and Aug. 19-22 (at the southbound 1-5 Duwamish River Bridge).
