A 14-year-old Florida girl, who went missing from Skagit County last Sunday, was found safe in Federal Way on Thursday afternoon.

FBI officials said Katelynn “Katie” Barlow, who was vacationing with family members in the Big Lake, Washington, area when she disappeared, “appears to be healthy and unharmed” but “will be assessed further.”

The Skagit County Sheriff’s Office was joined by the FBI in their search on Wednesday, and it was information developed by that joint investigation that led to Katie’s discovery around 1 p.m. “at a mall in Federal Way,” officials said.

The FBI had listed Katie’s case as a “kidnapping/missing persons” investigation prior to Thursday.

Big Lake is about 90 miles north of Federal Way.
