Montessori school holds salmon release

Montessori Academy at Spring Valley held its annual salmon release May 20 to help the salmon numbers in West Hylebos Creek, which runs through the campus of the Federal Way school.

The school has done so through the “Salmon in the Classroom” program for 28 years. Third- through eighth-graders raise salmon from December to May, and a tank connected to the creek creates a natural environment for growing salmon.
