PowellsWood (430 S. Dash Point Rd., Federal Way) is inviting community members to treat their mothers and grandmothers to a genteel, memory-making Mother’s Day weekend.
The garden will be open extended hours, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., on May 7 and 8. On May 8, a harpist will perform from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and tea will be available on both days in the garden’s sun room from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Visitors are also encouraged to don striking summer wear to tour the 3-acre garden.
“In keeping with the garden’s English sensibilities, vintage or garden-fabulous attire and hats are encouraged… but certainly are not required!” reads the event announcement. “All creative outfits or hats earn the wearer one entry into a drawing for one of two door prizes.”
General admission is $3-$7. For full event and parking information, visit www.powellswood.org or call 253-529-1620.
