Federal Way mayor receives 2.5 percent raise

Federal Way’s mayor received a quiet pay raise this year, and the position will now earn $115,620 per year.

The city’s Independent Salary Commission voted in February to raise the base salary of Federal Way’s mayor by 2.5 percent with no benefits increase.

Even after the raise, the mayor of Federal Way earns less per year than mayors of comparable cities.

The salary was examined after some city staff received consecutive 1.5 percent raises in 2015 and 2016, according to City Attorney Amy Jo Pearsall.
