The following is a sample from the Federal Way police log:
Thief assaults employee over tip jar: At 5:40 p.m. on April 10 in the 2000 block of S.320th St., police responded to a report of a robbery at Subway. A female reportedly had entered the store and demanded the tip money. When the employee refused, the suspect swung her hand and assaulted the employee. The suspect then jumped over the counter and continued assaulting the employee, placing her in a headlock while trying to grab the money from the tip jar. The suspect ran from the store with $4. The victim sustained minor injuries. Police were unable to locate the suspect, and the investigation is ongoing.
Woman locks self in store bathroom: At 11:52 a.m. on April 9 in the 28000 block of Military Road S., a woman locked herself in the bathroom at a local business. When police arrived, the woman began yelling and cursing at them. Officers described her as severely under the influence and unable to control her limbs. She admitted to taking meth, ecstasy and a concoction of other pills. Management at the store originally called when the woman began yelling and taking off her clothes. She was involuntarily committed.
Thief steals from man in vehicle: At 9:16 p.m. on April 9 in the 1400 block of S. 320th St., a victim reported that he was seated in his vehicle with cash when a suspect reached in and grabbed $1,300 from him before fleeing on foot in an unknown direction.
Drunk man can’t have it his way: At 2:40 p.m. on April 8 at 34819 Pacific Highway S., police responded to Burger King for a drunk, unwanted solicitor bothering customers. Officers contacted the man and discovered he had an outstanding warrant out of Tukwila. The warrant was confirmed, and the man was arrested and booked into SCORE jail.
Man found peeking into vehicles: At 4:20 p.m. on April 8 at The Commons mall, a mall patron observed a man looking into parked vehicles. The patron reported him to mall security, who in turn notified police. The man, who was contacted and detained by police, was found to have an outstanding Federal Way warrant and a permanent trespass from The Commons. Drug paraphernalia was also found in a bag the man was carrying, and he was booked into SCORE jail on the warrant.
Couple argues on the side of the road: At 9:30 p.m. on April 8 in the 400 block of S. 333rd St., a male was observed screaming and yelling obscenities into a female’s face on the side of the road while an officer was driving by. When the officer stopped to talk to the couple, the male was extremely uncooperative and continued screaming at the female. The female was interviewed away from the male, and the female stated the male was her fiancé. Police attempted to interview the male, but he walked away from the scene and refused to speak with them. The female stated there was no physical altercation, the incident was only verbal and she did not need further assistance. No crime was discovered, and when officers left the scene, the male was out of view after walking down the road.
Man sees neighbor robbed at gunpoint: At 11:25 p.m. on April 8 in the 500 block of S. 330th Place, a witness called 911 to report that her neighbor was being assaulted with a firearm. Two males had exited a vehicle and attempted to rob the victim at gunpoint. The suspects fled in an SUV. No injuries or loss of property were reported. King County’s Automated Fingerprint Identification System responded and processed the victim’s vehicle. There was limited suspect information at the time of the report.
Fireworks launched at home: At 1:46 a.m. on April 7 in the 1700 block of SW 357th Court, a woman heard two loud bangs outside of the front door to her residence. The victim ran upstairs to call 911, looked out the window, and observed smoke coming from her front porch. Investigation revealed that unknown suspect(s) shot a firework mortar round at her house, igniting a small outdoor plant. No damage was caused to the residence.
Furniture store burglarized: At 1:47 a.m. on April 7 at 34815 Pacific Highway S., officers were dispatched to Buddy’s Furniture for a commercial burglary. The suspect(s) entered the store and stole about $40,000 worth of merchandise. Pending updated suspect information, this case is closed.
Armed man involuntarily committed: At 7:58 a.m. on April 7 in the 29000 block of 26th Ave. S., a man walked up to police officers wearing a visible shoulder holster containing a loaded firearm, a knife on his waistband and six magazines of ammunition on a belt. He told police that his roommate had threatened to kill him five times with a knife and arrow because he wants to live at his house for free. He called 911 to tell police he had a theft suspect locked in his garage and told them his house had trap doors “everywhere.” He further told police that his roommate recorded him taking a shower and put it on the internet. He gave police keys to the house and garage. Police did not find anyone in the garage and did not locate a roommate. The man then told police that they would never catch his roommate because he always escapes from locked rooms. Police told the man they were taking him to St. Francis, and the man told them they were going to have to shoot him to get him there. They were able to get the man onto a gurney without incident.
Car window shattered by unknown object: At 8:59 a.m. April 7 in the 700 block of SW Campus Drive, a woman was driving her vehicle eastbound when something hit her car’s driver’s side window, shattering it. A small, circular impact was observed on the remaining glass. Police believe a BB may have caused it. No suspects were found when police and the woman checked the area.
Bullet casings found: At 11:01 a.m. on April 5 in the 100 block of SW 332nd St., a man called police to report he’d found bullet casings on the BPA trail. He did not pick them up with his hand and instead used a twig to place them in a plastic bag. He took the casings to the police station, and the casings were booked into evidence for processing.
Person unconscious on bus: At 8:44 p.m. on April 4 in the 34400 block of 21st Ave. SW, a person was found passed out on a Metro bus and involuntarily committed due to extreme intoxication. Metro called 911 because the subject could not get off of the bus.
