Watch for drool-dripping beasts | Letter

I was driving to Tacoma via Norpoint hill and the Tide Flats when I witnessed a nightmarish scene.

First, as I started descending the hill, I saw the flashing lights of an animal control vehicle. As I passed the slow moving vehicle that was occupying the middle of the road, I saw the reason the animal control was there. There were four very large pit bulls running in a pack, owning the street. Animal control was there to monitor the pit bull’s activity — there was no way anyone in their right mind would attempt to herd these muscular beasts with drool dripping from their jowls.

Two of the dogs were jogging down the sidewalk and two were following in the street holding up traffic. The two in the street were directly in front of my car, so I had a clear view of the massive power of these animals. If they chose to attack my tires I have no doubt they could flatten them.

Recently, there was a media report a few weeks ago about a person who was attacked by a pack like this at a convenience store at the top of the same hill. I also know a woman who was severely mauled by two pit bulls not more than a couple of blocks away from this location. The sight of these powerful dogs running in a pack as if they were in the wild is chilling. Please alert your readers who live in this area to be on the lookout.
