Republican flyer does not contain grain of truth about Song | Letter

My wife received another of those mailers sent out by “Working Families.”
Sure, it says in the fine print that no candidate authorized the ad, but curious minds wonder why a candidate with unquestioned integrity doesn’t step in, straighten them out and stop the reckless spending of thousands of dollars on flyers that do not contain a grain of truth.
Really? They have the audacity to call Shari Song a carpetbagger, yet they are up north in Sammamish involving themselves in our district? Who’s the carpetbagger? Shari lived here in Federal Way, started a business here in Federal Way and was involved in our community. She moved, as many people do, and then she moved back, to be near family. That does not make a carpetbagger.
The flyer says Shari plans to:
• Pass state income tax
• Eliminate tax limits and
• Raise property taxes
Wow! One person can single-handedly do all that? It took an entire Republican Senate to squash a transportation bill for two years.
Here’s what Ms. Song’s priorities really are:
• Job security, as in local jobs
• Improving education
• Transportation, working to get light rail here in Federal Way
• Equal pay for equal work
• Care for our veterans
• A woman, not the government, being in charge of her body (I’ve heard from many people who don’t like the whole pro-choice issue, but really, the government doesn’t regulate a man’s body, why a woman’s? It’s personal, it should be kept that way).
Gov. Jay Inslee and Sen. Tracey Eide (and dozens of other elected officials) have endorsed Shari Song. I want a senator who believes women are equal to men, that each should have autonomy over their own body and who also believes in marriage equality. Shari Song is all of that and more.
