Bob Roegner’s piece last week hit the nail on the head when he discussed the attack pieces that unnamed supporters of my opponent are purporting to be facts.

I appreciate Bob’s assessment of the situation and couldn’t agree more with him that “transparency in government and elections should be all candidates’ goal.”

As he stated, independent special interest groups that are affiliated with the Republican Party have been mailing literature over the last few weeks attacking me and lobbing accusations of being a carpetbagger by moving to Federal Way to run for office, when I have lived in Federal Way for years.

This same independent group has come up with a website — Democrats for Miloscia — but the strange part about that is none of the “Democrats are truly Democrats.” They are either lobbyists for large corporations like big oil and pharma, and most of them supported losing Republican Gubernatorial candidates Dino Rossi and Rob McKenna.

My supporters don’t need to justify which party they represent. It is crystal clear. When Sen. Tracey Eide endorses me, along with Congressman Adam Smith, Executive Dow Constantine, Councilwoman Dini Duclos and Ambassador Gary Locke — there is no need for me to create a website trying to attract others whose party affiliation may be different from my own.

I am running for the state Senate because I see great things for our community and have the skills necessary to make them happen, unlike my opponent who is grasping at straws and will say and do anything in order to get himself elected to office. Unlike my opponent, I’ve also worked in the private sector and know firsthand how tough it is out there for small business owners. I know what it takes to meet a payroll and balance a budget and I know what the people in our district want.

We have knocked on more than 40,000 doors of voters and what we hear is that they want the legislature to do their job and that includes fully funding education, passing a transportation budget and getting this state on solid ground and moving forward again. They don’t want the millions in tax loopholes to continue that benefit only corporations at the expense of their children’s education, either.

I am confident that the voters of the 30th district want someone like me representing them; someone interested in solving real problems, not a career politician who will say anything and take money from any corporate special interest to try to advance his own political career.
