Jack Dovey, a candidate for the House of Representatives Position 2 in the 30th Legislative District, has come under scrutiny for failing to pay his property taxes on time on his residence in Federal Way, for his failure to pay for workers compensation coverage, for failing to pay rent on business leases, et cetera. The list of litigated cases filed in King County Superior Court and other venues is just too extensive to list in this letter to the editor.

As many of my neighbors know, this was recently exposed in a very informative flyer that was mailed to households in District 30, which is mainly comprised of the city of Federal Way. I am glad I received this flyer because it has certainly changed my opinion about candidates I was considering.

Dovey was endorsed by the Seattle Times editorial board along with Linda Kochmar and Mark Miloscia. One has to wonder why this “ultraconservative” editorial board didn’t do their research or for that matter even scratch the surface of these particular candidates.

Dovey is a serial tax-evader. Is this the kind of representative you would choose to decide on the state’s funding priorities? Evading fiscal responsibility is neither prudent nor conservative.

On campaign signs that have been popping up around the district, Kochmar, Miloscia and Dovey have plastered all over their campaign signs gold colored placards that state “Endorsed by the Seattle Times.”

This has to make you wonder if there is more that wasn’t looked at by the Seattle Times and certainly cheapens their endorsements of any of these three candidates tremendously.

Because of their slipshod endorsement process and as a result of the Seattle Times endorsement of these candidates, I am canceling my subscription.
