The utility box art pilot project ran by the city of Federal Way Arts Commission and commissioner Gary Gillespie began on Aug. 8.

The first box was installed on South 320th Street near Red Robin while another was installed at the Town Square Park.

Gillespie presented the pilot project to the Federal Way City Council in June as a way to incorporate more art in the city and deter graffiti and tagging, which is often found on utility boxes.
