Federal Way’s Ansotigue, McDowell compete at World Sport Stacking championships

Federal Way residents John Ansotigue and Ezekiel McDowell posted impressive finishes at the World Sport Stacking Association Championships April 6-7 in Orlando, Fla.

The event is the pinnacle for international competitors vying for the fastest times stacking and unstacking plastic cups in various patterns. The event features individual, doubles and team competitions.

Ansotigue, a physical education teacher at Evergreen Heights Elementary, who organizes local sport stacking events, made the most of his first time competing in the sport. He set a world record in the 3-6-3 team-timed relay. Ansotigue also was first in the 3-3-3, second in the 3-6-3 and first in the cycle events for his age division. Ansotigue was competing in the senior 60-and-older age division.

McDowell competed in the 15-16 male category in Orlando. McDowell finished up in sixth-place overall in the 3-6-3 world sport stacking championships in a time of 2.499 seconds. McDowell also was sixth in the 3-6-3 team competition in a time of 16.835.
