BOYS BASKETBALL: Raiders snap losing streak, beat Kentlake; Decatur wins

After losing three games in a row, the Thomas Jefferson Raiders got back on track Thursday night with a 61-40 win over Kentlake.

The win improved the Raiders to 5-2 in the South Puget Sound League North Division and 6-4 overall. Jefferson took control of the game in the second quarter, outscoring the Falcons 17-9 during the eight minutes to take a 25-17 lead.

The Raiders were led by the 18 points, five rebounds and four assists of Daryon James and 22 points, five rebounds and four blocks from junior Deonte Anderson. Senior guard Josh Duckworth chipped in 10 points for TJ.

The Raiders will travel to Tahoma Saturday night in another important SPSL North game.

Decatur — The Gators blew away North Kitsap Thursday night at home in a non-league contest, 74-39. Decatur () jumped out to a 20-8 lead after the first quarter and also outscored North Kitsap, 19-2, during the third quarter.

The Gators got 21 points from senior guard Kevin Locascio, who has scored in double figures in all 10 of Decatur’s games this season. Locascio is averaging 16.6 points a game.

Decatur also got 13 points from Jason Young, who is the Gators’ leading scorer on the season at 18.9 points.

Beamer — The Titans (6-3 overall, 4-3 SPSL South) lost their first game in two weeks Thursday to Puyallup, 73-64. The Titans got 24 points from Juwan Flowers and 18 from Bogdon Blivenyuk.
