Let’s hold Federal Way schools accountable | Letters

Alas, it is the middle of October again, and for the second year in a row, the students, families and staff of the Federal Way School District do not have a functioning grading system.
Why is this happening again? Was the lesson not learned last year? Why is the school board not requiring the superintendent and district administration to be accountable for not having a functional grading system when school starts in the beginning of September?
No business can run effectively without a functional operating system. And yet, the school district turned off the grading system on the last day of school in June and we still do not have a working system. This would not be acceptable in the business world and it should not be acceptable for our students, parents and teachers as well. During a summer school board meeting, it was stated that there were 47 recommendations for the grading system. We have heard from staff that there are essentially no changes. The teachers will still not see what we as parents and students see at home on the GO2 system, so major confusion will continue when we, as parents, have questions.
It is disappointing to know that the school board does not have higher expectations for the administration and how our tax money is spent.
