BASEBALL WRAP: Decatur comes from behind to win; Beamer hands Jaguars second loss

The Decatur Gators picked up a huge come-from-behind South Puget Sound League 3A Division baseball victory Thursday over Bonney Lake.

Trailing 3-0 entering the bottom of the seventh inning, Decatur tallied three runs of their own to send the game to extra innings.

The Gators (5-6 SPSL 3A, 5-9 overall) won the game with a single run in the bottom of the eighth. Decatur got single RBIs from Romiro Ponce and Jim Sullivan and freshman Brandon Zimmerman finished 3 for 4 with a run and RBI.

Janson Junk picked up the win on the mound for the Gators.

Decatur came up short Friday in a key SPSL 3A battle against Auburn Mountainview, 3-1. The Gators managed only six hits, including a solo home run by Jim Sullivan. Derek Bontempo finished 2 for 3 with a double and Zach Jacobs was 1 for 3 with a double.

Beamer

The Titans (7-6 SPSL South, 10-6 overall) came back from a 3-0 deficit to hand Emerald Ridge their second loss of the regular season Friday, 7-3. Jeff Apigo held the high-powered Jaguar offense to just three hits.

Sam Kosbab finished 3 for 4 with a double, RBI and two runs and Adam Bolf finished 2 for 4 with a run. Both Lawyer Braun and Dallin Havili had an RBI.

Curtis scored five runs in the top of the first Friday and beat the Titans, 8-6. Havili finished 2 for 4 with two RBIs and a run and Matt Bower took the loss on the mound.

The Titans came close against Emerald Ridge Thursday, but lost 6-5. Beamer belted a pair of home runs and outhit Emerald Ridge, 8-5. Jarred Prather finished 3 for 4 with a home run and Mac Gridley was 2 for 4 with a home run and two RBIs.

Federal Way

The Eagles (10-3 SPSL South, 11-4 overall) stayed in third place in the SPSL South with a 7-3 win over Graham-Kapowsin Friday. Darien Moran got the win on the mound for the Eagles and also finished 1 for 3 with two RBIs. Nick Tanielu was 2 for 4 with an RBI.

Jefferson

The Raiders (4-7 SPSL North, 5-8 overall) needed five innings to beat Kent-Meridian Friday, 10-0. Jordan Price allowed only two hits and struck out two. Dylan Cooper finished 4 for 4 with two RBIs and two runs for TJ.
